Hi
I posted on monday about my shih tzu puppy ,he is now 5 days old he was putting on weight and he was getting really strong but all of a sudden he`s lost his weight and he is starting to get weak
what can we do for him.The rest of the puppies are fine and they are about 3times bigger then him

Try and phone another vet, if he is not suckling if you have any glucose in the house try giveing have that a little drop at a time, if no try sugar water, is he feeling cold and floopy,if so try and warm him up, I have always found a hairdryer is the best way to do this, if you do not have a dropper of bottle soak the corner of a towel and drip the sugar water a drop at a time very slowly into his mouth, But I would keep phoneing round untill you do find a vet that will give him treatment tonight.

There must be an emergency vet you can see? Go through the yellow pages, and phone them all till you find one that has an emergency service. The little fella sounds in a bad way.

Good luck

Sorry, just realised I've repeated what Britney has already advised!

Sometimes there is nothing you can do, you fight to get them through the first few hours, days or weeks and because there is something inherantly wrong, can still lose pups.  Often there is nothing a vet can do.  I have had a couple of neo-nate deaths post-mortemed and it has been found that one or more of the internal organs has been crushed.  However carefully you watch your bitch you cannot always stop her from stepping, or laying on the pups.

I hope this is not the case with your pup but it is possible.
