advice needed for my aunt who is at the end of her tether!!
her daughter got a 12 month old staff when she left home and later found out it was already pregnant! Once the pups were born, someone came and told her they weren't full staff and told my cousin she could rehome them for her. She then went to live back with my aunty who begrudgingly let the dog come with her. Problems start here, the dog keeps attacking people, even when muzzled she tries to go for anyone who comes into the house. She is then okay for a while and then it starts all over again! My aunt is really fed up now (2 years later ) and has told cousin to either move out with the dog or get rid of it.
What i'm asking is, does anyone think there is any hope for the dog or has the situation gone too far?
TIA

Hi Tia,
You need to seek professional advice about this! Go to see a behaviourist. No-one can give you advice without seeing the dog and finding out what's caused this.

I would seek professional advice too .
Although Staffys and staffy crosses can be dog aggressive it is very unusual for them to be people aggressive :(

Definately seek proffessional advice on this one. As lel points out it is unusal for a staffy to be peolpe aggressive :(
I have had four staffys and none of them have been people aggressive.
I hope your cousin can sort things out soon.

The only way there would be any hope for the dog would be if your cousin was committed to finding the right help and then being prepared to work at it. She would also need the support of your aunt. IMO

Hello
As others have said it is TOTALLY out of character for a staff to be people aggressive :-(
Is this staff a KC reg. staff - what I mean to say is are you sure she is 100% staff and not a mix breed in any way. Sometimes staffs can be carelessly crossed and though may "look" like a staff hold a risky combination of breeds.
As your cousin re-homed the dog later on in life you do not know what her upbringing was like and if horrible this could be the result :-(
I am going to sound awful now but if this "person aggression" cannot be stopped then re-homing is NOT an option as the problem will only be passed on. Staffords - for their size - are extremely powerful dogs and "could" do alot of serious damage.
What if this dog managed to get loose and a child was walking down the street? The result could be devastating :-( If the vet has checked for any underlying medical cause for this aggression and there is none - eg. brain tumour - then sad though it maybe I really think your cousin should consider a final option.
I know this sounds very sad but could your cousin live with the guilt of a child or any other person being scarred for life or worse from her dog?
