Hi can anyone please give me some advice regarding my dog. she has been mated on the fourth of march for the first time. she does not apear to be showing any signs of pregnancy, however she has developed a whitish yellow discharge. which the other dogs seem to be taking a lot of interest in. its not profuse but noticable. should i be worrying or is this a sign she may have conceived. i would be greatfull of any advice.

Hi Guest, I bred my first litter last year and I too noticed my bitch had this milky discharge. I was worried it might be early pyometra, but I was reassured that it was a good sign that the bitch was pregnant. Of course you should continue to observe your bitch, but as long as this discharge is not smelly or thick and profuse, then you can probably look forward to the patter of tiny paws.

Hi
I mated my bitch on 11th March, and have just noticed that she has a similar discharge. Fingers crossed for us both then!

Thanx for all the advice. she is not showing any other signs of pregnancy, but hopefully she is. this will be our second attempt. nothing happend last time. she does seem to have developed an appertite, unusual for her as she is not a greedy girl.

Hi Molly,
My bitch was mated on the 3rd and 5th March, So fingers crossed she'll be due the same time as your bitch.
I can't say I have noticed any discharge, is it a lot, or could it go unnoticed. My dog does seem a bit over keen on that area though, but I put it down to her still having a smell of her season.
I've seen a change in Ruby though, she's definitely more greedy, I say more cos she's greedy at the best of times. But she seems to be begging more. Plus she seems to be wanting a lot more fuss and attention. So they are good signs that she's pregnant. I know it's early days but she does seem thicker set too. She's had a litter before, but I've forgotton what she was like in early pregnancy.
We'll have to keep each other posted
Michelle.
