I am taking my B.C. to his first open breed show sun. i have been told he is a lovely standard for the breed, my only concern is that he only stands 19.1/4in. to the shoulder i have also been told to stretch him up when judge comes face on with him this is of no inportance to me as i did not get him for showing but if he is as everyone says and did go well in the ring then i would be so happy. Could someone tell me does he have a chance as he looks like a dog but with bitch height. Thankyou.

How old is he, if he is still a puppy don't worry too much a pup of 6 months may not be up to size and those who are may well end up too big. The standard says ideal height 21" so a lot depends on the height of other dogs in the ring with you, if as sometimes happens a good few are above the ideal height that seems to confuse the judge who will view you dog as being too small, on the other hand if in the class with you there and some at 21" and some smaller your dog will be fine. Then again if your dog is excellent in all other aspects the height is only one fault and may not matter too much as he is not that small, as a judge I would be more concerned about his conformation and movement before I considered his height providing he is not so small that he does not look like the breed he is supposed to be.
