We have a 5 year old HV who I hope to show this summer, mostly at exemption and open shows, and would like to know whether she is too old. It sounds a bit daft coz I know lots of dogs keeping showing until their teens but she has never been shown before. She stacks quite nicely inside but outside she goes very hunched up and her back legs start to shake! She doesn't like the cold and usually wears a jacket in bad whether, I have tried stacking her in the house and then taking her straight into the garden where she is fine for a few minutes but will then start looking like she is feeling the cold.
She is well bred and her breeder has commented on how nice she is(I think he would have liked her for himself!) so I definatley think its worth a go but these little niggles of self doubt keep creeping in!
Also she is spayed, so do i need to inform the Kennel Club? Will this effect my chances with her in the ring? Will anybody know unless i tell them?
Hope you can help

I'm bringing in a 5 year old male from Spain later on this year, he's not done much showing although he's a Spanish Champion.  I hope that he does show for me, but I'll just have to wait and see and keep my fingers crossed :d

How did he become a champ if he hasn't been shown much? Are their qualifying rules different to ours? Hope he does well over here, is he a vizsla?

Even over here a dog only has to attend 3 champ shows to become a champion if he wins the CC at each and hence a dog does not need to be shown much to become a champion

No, he's a Spanish Water Dog and has only recently become a champion.
