Hi All, A friend has 4 orphaned staffy pups. They are now 2weeks and 2 days old. He has been bottle feeding now for 2 weeks. Pups are drinking all their milk but not pooing after every meal even though they are being topped and tailed. It is between 18 and 24 hours between stools. Any advice greatly appreciated as he is very concerned about their health. Not much assistance from his vet.

well done to your friend for hand rearing them. It's hard work!
Sometimes substitute milk can make them a little constipated. If they strain & struggle to poo or if their poo is hard & dry ~ he could give them a drink of cool boiled water, this can sometimes help.
Tell him to continue stimulating them by gently wiping their genitals & bums with damp cotton wool.
They'll soon be ready to start solids, then I'm sure they'll be pooing loads!
As long as they are all healthy & happy & not bloated ~ they should be ok.  :)

You may need to make a slightly weaker milk concentrate, but be careful its not too weak :( Its common for h/r pups to becom collicky, so a vet check may not hurt as long as the vet is competant with h/r pups (which is rare!)
