Obi is doing very well, practicing his stand, checking teeth etc, the only problem being his feet, he HATES them being touched, it is impossible for me to clip them, I've gone throught the gently gently methods, treating for the lightest of touches, but as soon as I try to have any sort of hold on them he goes mental!
How much are a dogs feet handled by the judge in the show ring, we only have 2 months till his first show, Brum Champ Show. and I am starting to worry now...

Do you touch his feet at other times too?? eg. when he's having a cuddle? If the only time you touch his feet is when you need to do something to them then he will resent this. While he's cuddling and relaxed I would try slowly and gently massaging down his legs towards his feet, stopping closer each time and treating him if he tolerates it. When he tolerates you touching his feet while cuddling maybe you could just try gently massaging the separate toes and in between, checking at the same time that theres nothing that could cause him pain there (matted fur, sore bits, foreign bodies etc.) This way he can get used to having his feet handled and not get stressed out when you really need to handle them. My dog actually loves having his feet massaged :) and so will tolerate having his feet clipped - although he doesn't actually like this attention he allows it without fuss and knows he'll get a treat after.
Hope this helps and good luck in the show

He will tolerate it when cuddling as long as I don't try to hold his foot or if he thinks there is an ulterior motive (he is a bit too clever), will keep working at it, ACD's do not always like being handled by strangers so we are really working hard at it!
I thought of using a clicker (we use it for some other training) but not sure if I have enough hands!
