I have mated my bitch and it was the first time for both of us.  She had her first mating session on friday but dog didnt take to her no matter how hard she tried then after a couple more sessions they did tie eventually on sunday eve.  they tied for 20 mins or so.  When we tried again the next morning my bitch jus wanted to play but of course the dog had other things on his mind, and my bitch tried to tear his head off.  What is the chance of her being pregant this time as it was only the once and in the bookof the bitch it says two times min. I know i proberly did wrong in not using a studdog that knew what he was doing but both dogs have loving families and both sides want to keep a pup each.

I don't think anyone can answer that question for you - you will just have to wait and see ;)

As Chloe says, you will have to wait and see, as long as neither the dog nor bitch was damaged and no one got bitten then you managed. It is better not to use two virgins especially if the owners are virgins too, but as long as they are health tested and compatible you have managed against the odds and you should know in about 4 weeks if the mating was successful.

I've mated many of mine only once and they've had pups.  It sounds like they had a good tie so fingers crossed you may have a patter of tiny paws in 9 weeks.  I've just mated my girl today so hopefully in 9 weeks I will also have little pups, I'm nervous but excited at the same time.
