Off to see Viszla pups this morning with Silverback and had a whale of a time :D 4 bitches, 1 dog by Targa Starflyer who got 2nd in his class at Crufts, Mum is a Drevermore. Breeder is a very nice lady who let us visit her litter to see what good pups are like, 5 weeks old and very confident, trotting about with their toys and climbing up on us :D  We had a good chat about the breed standard and what living with Viszlas is like. Thanks to Heather we now know what a good litter visit is like.Silverback has kept her number so he can hear about other litters in future. Its so hard to resist them with their wee wrinkled brows and baggy trousered back legs. I laughed like a drain when one of the bigger bitches attached herself to SBs boots and ate his laces, and we fell out in a jokey way about dog or bitch. :D

Im pleased to hear youve found a nice breeder , I would reccomend you visit as many breeders as you can you will get to learn the look of the different lines it amazing the difference while still fitting the breed standard!,and how different they can be to live with! some lines are more placid than others but all should be out going and extremly loving and deffinatly not nervy!
Most good breeders will be happy for you to visit and have a chat about the breed although they often have very long waiting lists for there puppies.
A good puppy is always worth the wait.
also do some research on health problems i.e entropian, dysplasia, epilepsy although the breed isnt greatly affected it is still a issue you should be informed about!
welcome to the Vizsla fan club :)

Hiya

I am a proud owner of an 8 month Vizlsa..who is great, life with a Vizsla is wonderful..Ok I am gushing now!!..but its great, we did get her from a good breeder who will have made things easier for us.  On the first night of Tally being in her new home, she trotted through the living room door, picked up a slipper and ran around with it!!..not nervy or anything!! Tally is a Ponsonby pup...who are great and v helpful - there are lots of Vizzys there too!!! wishing you lots of luck and fun for you and your new member of the family!

Hi Kate and Kellie, Heather was very good at pointing out the variations/health things on our vsit and SB was taken aback when he saw the stippled golfd effect on her bitches as the Vizzies he knew years ago were a stronger, solid chestnut, and much smaller than the bitch we knew although both were within standard. Be warned, we are visiting and saving up now! Funny thing is I look at pups from a Working Trials PoV, he looks at lively companionship so I need to shut up as it will be HIS dog. So now we know a couple of lines, targa, Drevermere and Ponsonby. Thanks.

Thanks Kate, will have a look at the events diary. OH is besotted, the big lump. He definitely wants a taller type than the ones we saw Sunday and is talking fondly of the imported Hungarian dog called Vich ( very original these Sound Engineers) he knew in the 80s.

Not sure how big Tallulah is in comparison to others, she is 24kg tho...Ponsonby have lots inc grandma who is very little (who I thought was gorgeous!) but Tallys mum and dad were larger.  We dont show or work tally she is "just" a much loved part of the family..I dont want to bore you..but I do have some pics if you would like me to email them over..just let me know!
