My Oliver has to go to my friend's kennels on Saturday he is nearly 8 months old and the girls have come into season. It's my fault because I never got round to having his house mate spayed. His not quite sure what to do but I don't want him finding out just yet and also I don't want a black x fawn Dane mating. Poor little (big) Oliver at least the plants in the garden will be spared for a couple of weeks.

Happy holidays Oliver. Dont feel guilty Dozeydanes, plenty people choose to keep their dogs entire and use kennels to prevent unplanned litters. Its responsible & Oliver will make new friends :)

I do feel guilty even though he is going through that horrible pain in the a**e stage at the moment, it won't be the same without him stealing the underwear or bringing tree branches indoors or jumping all over the furniture when he gets excited.

Bless him :D another knicker nicker. I even miss Morse when Im at work so it must be rotten for you but it wont be for long. My OH missed his dog so much when he was working at T in the Park he borrowed his pals dog for hugs and hes a CKCS, so a bit of a change from Manic Morse. Its the right thing to do youd feel a whole lot worse allowing young Oliver to become a dad.

I definately don't want him becoming a Dad at his age and especially to my black girl.

Oliver has not settled in kennels at all well and my friend cannot get near him to get a lead on for a walk, she is letting him run round the compound for a few hours several times a day for excerise but we are worried that this experience might put him off people and are in two minds whether to bring him home and swap the outside dogs around so he can go in with this sister and mum (there is no sign of them coming in season yet). My friend is very experienced and say she will win in round in the end but we are still worried and he is booked in for 2 weeks. What would the Champdoggers do??

How horrible for you all. I would cry buckets and leave him with my trusted friend until the end of the first week, then see if I could seperate them at home. With my luck as soon as I brought the male home the 2 females would come on. Sorry I have no practical experience to offer, but you know your dog best and if your gut tells you this is wrong, then maybe act on it.

Personally, I would bring him home. I have never kennelled Willis - he just wouldn't cope. He is very sensitive and would lose condition and weight very fast with the stress of being kenneled. Can you not have someone have him at home with them for you?

We are going to leave it unil Wednesday morning and if he is still upset then we will swap all the kennel dogs around and he will have to go in with his mother and sister. He will still be in a kennel but at least he will be at home with us.

Best of luck, tell us what happens :)
