I don't know any breeders, but "long-legged" Jack Russells are actually called Parson Russell terriers.

Or from another angle Stracey among the non kc reg russels (which most are!) they come either short legged variety or long legged both are exceptable provided they are not to leggy to go to ground and do the job they were bred to do!
I belive Goulds breeding are a nice shape not over leggy but not stumpy but they are normally only available to working homes :)
The parsons russels are also leggy as Stacey quite rightly said but they lack colour/markings in my eye but as with any breed /type its personal preferance.

The problem with the non-KC russels is that they are so variable you don't know what you will end up with in many cases. (I actually like the smooth coated shorter legged type myself.)
I also found at least in my area the non-KC russels make up a large part of the rescue population at places like Battersea, for whatever reason. I suspect it's because they are acquired because they are "cute" and the owners are unprepared for terrier temperament.

I must agree with stacey you just dont know what you will get the breeders of the working terrier who are linebred for type and ability often wont sell them as a pet more often than not they are gifted to working homes.
as for buying the average un registered russel from the freee ads you just dont know what you will get A friend of mine has just bought a " pure bred russel pup" :(and its black and tan! I think not although the breeder swears blind shes owned the last five generations of pure russsels and theve never been out crossed!;)
i own 2 small smooth coated jack russells, friends brought one 7 months ago, well so they thought she is no way a jack russell, well maybe a collie crossed jack russell, she as they say you dont know what your getting.

I stopped a guy at work yesterday because I was so mesmerised by the dogs in the back of his truck. They were a pair of litter brothers, Parsons Russell Terriers. They were absolutely beautiful and the nicest terriers I have ever seen. He travelled miles to get them as he says they are quite hard to come by.
He says they show lots of instinct for working and he would like to channel their skills but isn't sure how to go about it. I said I would do some asking around for him. Any ideas?
I do know plenty of people with farms, gamekeepers, etc so I do have some sources of info but of course would welcome any from CD!
