I was recently out walking when I met some people with a lovely dog, very much like a jack russell, but completely black. They said that it was called a patagonia terrier???, i have checked the kennel club web site and cannot find anything, have you heard of this breed of dog?, if so could you put me in touch with a breeder please. The people told me that these dogs are mainly bred in the north of the country on farms etc.

I would be most grateful to hear from you, if you are able to assist me. I may have got the name wrong though.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely

Julie

A complete guess but do you think they meant a Patterdale Terrier? I don't know a great deal about them and will show my ignorance but, I think they are either liver or black, quite stocky and have wiry fur.

I am sure it will be a Patterdale you saw. They are not recognised by the Kennel Club so you will not find them on their web site, a search on Google may show up some sites, they are usually advertised in the Shooting Times type publications. They are a breed of terrier with a strong working character not much of a pet for someone unless they are at least experienced with terriers generally but very smart looking little dogs, I believe they are usually if not always black.
