What is a good hip score, I am confused about the ratings is 5.5 good, average or terrible!?

Hi Guest each breed has a different mean score and the dogs should score below it and as low as possible perfect being 0/0 personally I think 5/5 is fine (my stud dog has 5/5 on his hips) this may be considered very good in some breeds but poor in others.
why dont you register and tell us which breed and im sure we can be more helpful :)

Assuming you are in the UK guest a score of 5/5 is quite good. Think of it as 0/0 as being as good as it gets and 53/53 as bad as it gets. Just how good it is would depend on the breed. A Flatcoated Retriever averages 9 total so your 10 would be worse than average whereas a Labrador average is 16 so 10 would be better than average.
