Hi,

I mated my lab 2 weeks ago, how long will it be before the first signs of pregnancy, and what are the signs to look for?

Thanks

hi guest, your bitch will most likely not show any significant signs for another few weeks yet. if she is carrying a large litter you may see a change in her shape from as early as 4-5 weeks, if its a smaller litter you may not notice any difference until around 6 weeks. the signs to watch out for will be swelling of the nipples, increase in the size of her belly fur coming away from her nipple area restlessness sometimes a loss of appetite she may need to be tempted to feed with tasty foods in the later stages, digging , panting and nestmaking are things you would be watching out for in the later stages of her pregnancy. if it is your first litter it would be helpful for you to have someone who is experienced with breeding dogs on hand to offer help and advice. if you do not have anyone who can help you im sure if you register and join up we will be able to answer any more questions you have :-)
