Help!!!! One of the puppies in the litter has not been at all well so we had taken to the vets.Vets done a good check then gave her some injections. She has lost a bit of weight. As they are 11 days old could this be fading puppy syndrome???. At the moment she is being bottle fed with whelpi and glucose and is being kept in a very warm pen with her litter mates. Please help.

Does she still have her sucking reflex and is she still keen to feed?
Has she gone floppy at all?
Does she feel cold in the mouth?
Is she making an unmistakable high pitched cry?
If the answer is yes to any of these then she MAY be showing signs. If the answer is yes to more than one of these questions then the chances are she DOES have FPS.
Some vets do not always recognise FPS and merely give fluids and anti-biotics which will not cure the FPS.
My advice would be to have a look at my article on the link page which is on my name if you click "staffie".
If you want any further advice please phone me. With FPS the sooner you act the better chance the pup has.
If the pup has lost the sucking reflex then you may have to consider tube feeding until she receives treatment and the reflex returns.
I hope it is not FPS but if it is please act quick.

That is very interesting and when you are facing loosing pups everything is worth trying :-)
Will keep it in mind. As with any cure for FPS it needs to be done as early as possible.

hi Anne-Marie

i have never used this but a friend has and i sore that it worked.  the pup was fading fast and she was given every thing a go.  she tried this and with 2 days the pup was ok and catching up with his litter mates.  So last week i went out and got some just in case (have not needed it so far)
