my girls are always dieting but my boy is going through a very lean stage, (im glad hes coated to cover it up!), hes never been a big eater, so i need to give him something thats fattening which he can have in small amounts! i feed chick wings/natural diet so would need to complement this!
hes heathy ,shiny, lovely coat, wet nose, loads of energy.

Hi,

Raw green tripe is excellent for putting"body on" or if you don't like this try Butchers tinned tripe.

Regards Briony:-)

Green tripe is Brill for putting weight on, i feed mine this if they are looking abit skinny. Yes it doe's really smell but like Briony said you do get used to it. I think the ones you get from pets at home don't smell as bad as they are washed more compared to the stuff we sell at work, now that really doe's smell!! But if you were to defrost it in water over night in a sealed container then you wont smell it as much until it comes to serving it. The tripe we can eat from the butchers is washed and bleached so doesn't contain all the goodness like green tripe does (so iv been told)

Good luck with what you decide.

Green tripe should always be fed raw, I have no idea why anyone would want to cook it :D  The white stuff has no nutritional value at all.

If you want to increase weight you must increase the calorific density of the food.  However you should also be aware that certain fats carry the same health risks to dogs that they do to us!  Therefore you would want to avoid the saturated animal fats where possible!  You should also take into consideration that diet is a major contributor to the onset of pancreatitis in dogs!  Bearing this in mind it may be more reasonable to add oils that are not going to carry as much risk such as Fish Body Oils, Evening Primrose Oil etc to the diet.

How much oil would you have to add to actually see a difference in weight?I would imagine a great deal.

i will try the green tripe (help!!) & the lamb as extras,on different days & see how he goes. i have tried oil,as i used to use it successfully to keep weight on my horse, but flynn-being flynn isnt too keen!
