I have a doberman he is 12 months old on 28th may,
could any body tell me how old he has to be to stud him and how i go about finding a bitch to stud him with.
I am new to all this so i hope it makes sense.

Thanks

Oh Wonderful!!

Someone wanting to stud their dobermann at last - I have been waiting so long to find the right dog for my bitches.  What can he offer them, what are his strong and weak points when compared with the breed standard.

Please let me know as soon as possible what his  vWD, PHPV and heart status are, what are his parent's hip scores as he is too young to have had his done at the moment?  Which shows has he won/competed at, does he compete in any other discipline as well.   Is he KC registered and are you sure about his DoB?

~~

Whilst the above may seem a bit "heavy/sarcastic" it is all information I would want to know about a dog before I used him (which I don't at the moment ) - so are you able to answer all the questions?  You will need to register to be able to post again :)

Firstly & most importantly, he has to have all the relevant health checks for the breed, some of which he can't have until he's 12 months old. Then you need to discover all about the dogs in his pedigree - were they all good examples of the breed, did they have any health problems etc etc. Then you have to find out if your dog is an excellent example of the breed.
If he gets that far & still seems suitable to use as a stud dog, you then have to convince someone that they should use your dog rather than someone else's and check all the above out for the bitch as well. If you find someone, you have to let them convince you that they are a responsible breeder & that your boys' offspring won't end up in a pet shop or a home where they are mistreated.
After all that, when you find the perfect partner for your boy, the owner will bring her round and your boy will take one look & say "I don't fancy THAT one bit!
