Hi

I have a friend that has bred a litter of Setters and two of the boys only appear to have one testicle that can be felt. The vet has tried, the stud dog owner has tried but they can only feel one. The four other boys have two.

Of course one of the boys is the one she wants to keep and show.

Do any of you know if there is still time for them to drop, they are eight weeks today. Or is it more likely that they will stay this way. They have been able to feel the other one for two weeks now.

Plenty of time for the other one to drop. I would start to get concerned if it wasn't down by 6 months, especially for a show puppy.

They will lay on their backs at 8 weeks and you can see two they stand up and you can only find one, would like there to be 2 apparent in my pups but I would not panic for another 12 months.

Thank you both for your replies. This is her first litter and she so wants to keep this dog as it reminds her of her Champion show dog and breed record holder that she lost suddenly last year. I will pass your replies on to her.

Plenty of time the vet had recomended that we have our yellow lab fixed because of this and it took his about 8 months to drop and he is now fine.

Bradley has only one testicle which he is very proud of.  But unfortunately its got to go.

one of my boys only had one testicle until he was 10 months old when the other one finally came down - his teeth then went from perfect scissor bite to under shot ! -HO HUM
