Hi Ibruprofen isnt recommended for dogs it can cause kidney failure. Please talk to your vet if you think your dog is in enough pain to warrent pain killers. Gillian

Satincollie are you sure that is correct information?  only my vet and many others have suggested Ibuprofen as an anti inflammatory for the relief of Pano (growing pains)
I am about to give it to my Lab who has Pano but not to the detriment of his vital organs.

Guest please keep him cage rested, this is really all you can do and do remember that with the pain relief he will 'forget' that it hurts and not naturally rest it.

Ibuprofen (and Paracetamol) can be fatal to dogs and cats,  even in small amounts.

Ibuprofen like Nurofen or Advil is also not recommended in humans with kidney pain or recurrent infections.  It can be harmful.

Hi. :)

As I said, paracetamol can be fatal to dogs. The guest should certainly not use them without discussing it with the vet first. Personally I would go for something natural, it's not worth the risk.

Debbie, yes Arnica is a homeopathic remedy and Devil's Claw is a herbal one so they are both natural :)

Hi all, I'm glad guest started this post as I am at a loss what to do with my 5month Lab pup, I fed him Science Plan thinking it was the best for the best but his bone has grown rapid causing what I believe is Pano. I thought I would give him Ibuprofen, he doesn't acutually appear to be in pain but I'm not going to now.
Where can I get Arnica or Devils Claw, are they natural, is there any risk?  I have never experienced Pano before, those who have... when did it stop and is there anything to do other than rest, without any exercise he will not build muscle......

Hi,
I have bullmastiffs and i would recommend Arnica and plenty of rest (cagged if needed), this is a common problem in bullies and too much exercise at this time will not help. Take things easy with him over the next few months.
