Im upset. I know a dog is abandoned in one of the flats at work. Its a 5-6 month old pied staffy who runs up and down the window of a ground floor flat facing the bus stop, whining and whimpering. Neighbours cant tell me if the flat is vacant or not, it looks unfurnished and has a blanket over the window which is moved, but no sign of human life. Think flat is a giro drop. I called the dog warden but they knock off at 3.30 and nobody will be in touch till morning. They tried to say it wasnt distressed just territorial, so I got a bit cross. Also got lecture from boss about remaining focused on my own job, letting the area team sort it out etc etc. Wish I was as tough as I pretend to be, wish I could do blue faces, most of all I wish I could break in and nick the pup.

:( I know how it feels to be affected by such things - things play on my mind too. Try to stay positive and ring the dog warden first thing and the RSPCA - tell them you think the dog has no food and water - that should do it.

And Ill tell the area team its wetting on the floorboards and damaging the property too, thatll shift them!

Phone the police say you beleive the property to be unused & you ythink its being broken into as you can see someone inside The poor dog

Can you post some dog food through the letterbox?

I would try the police and the RSPCA because the RSPCA always say that they cannot break in without the police and alls they will do on their own is knock on the door.

If you really do get no response then maybe try the local press like someone suggested, that will get someone to sort it out.

Ive phpned the Dog Warden who is very sympathetic but cant get in - hes now got a description of the dog and if he sees him out, he'll lift him. Called the SSPCA and they are sending an inspector to tape the door.If the seal is unbroken on Saturday, theyll get the police and break in. Have also told the area office and theyre investigating the tenant. All have my mobile number and know I expect to be informed whatever happens. John the Dog Warden will stand bail if I get nicked for breaking in and taking the dog :D What enrages me is that if someone goes in once a day to put down food and water they will do nothing as this is the legal requirement. Im not posting food through the door until its really bad so as not to compromise their work. Im also going to inform Environmental Health as the dog will be fouling inside. The local paper is only interested if the dog dies maybe not even then. So some progress but Im not letting go yet.

Good for you, Lorelei. Let us know what happens, won't you? We had a new addition at our training club this week - a little rescue pup who had been thrown out of a moving car window - the mind boggles. :(

its such a sad world that we live in   how any one can leave a pet alone with out any food or water is beyond me i worry about leaving mine for a few hours...l
