Just wondering...

Does anyone know why dogs eat grass and is it bad for them?

I don't think anyone knows the deinative answer to that question - but I think it's safe to say that enough dogs have eaten grass for long enough that if it were a problem we wouldn't have dogs (cats do it too!)  My girls prefer broad leafed grasses like TImothy and wheat.........

I always understood dogs (and cats) ate grass to act as natural roughage - if they eat enough it makes them sick, but either way (!) it helps clear their systems of toxins. I assume (hope?) that my lab eats sheep and horse poo for a similar reason...

My dogs often like to graze on winter wheat, barley etc.  Some grasses are very sweet, some are herbs and sometimes they are used as nature's emetic.  It is a multi purpose crop :D
