Hi all , just thought I`d give you an update whats been happening. Got back from UK at the w/end after seeing my sis again & we` ve finally ben told she won`t walk again. She`s had rheumatoid arthritis for over 25yrs now & 2yrs ago her hips dislocated, she had op for new hip but afterwards it just kept popping out so it was removed & a sort of girdle put in till they could try a new method. She then got a grade 3 pressure sore so op had to be delayed till it healed (she still has it by the way but it`s almost gone now). Also lots of other complications, one being that the building blocks in her neck have disintergrated. Anyway I spoke to the ward sister last week & she told us she doubts very much if the surgeon would operate, if he did it`s very doubtful he`d find an aniethetist that would also my sister is *not a candidate for rehabilitation*. So we`ve been looking round the nursing homes trying to find a nice one for her & I came up with one that seems nice enough & the matron is going to see her today. It was really hard hearing the sister say out loud what we all thought cos my sis is only 65.
Anyway thats were I`ve been & why no posts from me :) Hope you`ve all been good while I was away......notice a few posters have gone so any gossip just pm me with it!!!!! :D

What can I say? I hope your sister isn't in too much discomfort, and that she has somewhere nice to live before long.

Hello Christine,
Nice too see you back, you've been missed.
Sorry your news is not too good. I hope your sister settles in the home and that she's not too uncomfortable at the moment.
Best wishes Karen

Getting older can be a wonderful time. Time for us to relax and do a few of the things we have not had time for in the past. Unfortunatly for others growing older can be so hard. I feel so sorry for your sister C. She should be relaxing now and enjoying life but life has played a cruel trick on her.

Love, John

Awww thanks guys :) Just got off the phone to her & things are running ahead & she is going there tomorrow! Had a hell of an afternoon between mobiles & hospital phones but after 2yrs she`s got to get out of that hossy!!! She`s a lot stronger now in her mind as well so hoping for the best & she likes it & will be more settled, if nothing else will give her more of normal life & some independence till we gather thoughts & see whats the next step :) :)

Hi Christine

Just wanted to add glad that your sis is moving in to her new home today and I hope that this weekend is the first of many happy days for her out of hospital with a bit more independence.

Hi J, life tends to do that doesn`t it?? The worse hit are my nieces, they just want their mum back. Talking about her mind now cos don`t know yet what drugs they had her on but boy she was out of it!!! Glad to say her minds coming back now & she`s like my sis used to be  & the hope now is to make her just as comfy as can be :D You know you don`t get nowhere in this life without a fight ;) and an awful lot of tears!
