I know this is a weird question but does anyone know at what age a male dog begins to lift his leg to wet. Max has only done this once in his life and usually wets like a female dog (standing). Anyone know if this is to do with his castration ?

Leg Cocking is a pack behaviour instinct normally showing signs of dominance
this can start at any age or mabey not at all.
it could be a good thing sometimes if they didn't then they wouldn't wee up every thing in the garden like pot plants, dustbin sacks etc:)

My castrated dog will retain or revert to peeing like a horse, at least most of the time but will cock in a half hearted manner sometimes. The intact males will also stand to pee if what the have in mind is to empty their bladder and not sent marking. Jackie H
