Topic Dog Boards / Showing / KC Rules & Regs - Clarification?
- By Admin (Administrator) Date 10.03.04 21:28 UTC
Question:

You have arranged an open show and nominated a committee member to act as referee on the day.  A club member wishes to enter their dog at the show. The committee member, who has been asked to referee co-owns said dog.  My question is "Can the member still enter their dog"? The KC book does not say anything at all about referees and owning dogs. It only refers to judges and breeding dogs.

If anyone can shed light on this, I would be grateful

If it is not clear in the rules & regs. I think it is best to ask the KC in writing or by e-mail about the problem and get a written reply to wave at them when someone complains. Sorry cynical.

In a way the referee is still a judge so would think it best not to enter.

P.S. still ask the KC personally but to be honest wouldn't it be bad sportsmanship if the referee co-ownd the dog and it was being showen???

I can clarify this.

The referee IS an appointed judge.  The KC rules and regs state that a judge can not exhibit at a show where they are officiating.

Therefore the Referee CAN NOT exhibit.
