Would you recommend having 2 Weimaraner bitches together.  We have 1 and are thinking of getting another, but a rescue centre has suggested they would not put 2 bitches together incase they fight and need to be rehomed!

I have weimaraners, I also home check and assess dogs for rescue.  It is the general rule that two bitches are not put together as there can be problems especially if they are close in age.  In general two dogs are not recommended either; generally speaking if you have one sex things can be a lot easier if you get the opposite sex as a companion; generally the bitch ends up being the boss :D

a lot of rescue centres have really strict rules. have you tried the local free ads? sometimes you see weims advertised and sometimes its thru no fault of their own marriage breakup new baby etc i wouldnt get a dog from a rescue centre id rather get it straight from the previous owners, that way they can tell you a bit about the dog and you can see the dog in its home environment how it is with children etc.

I think what you have to bear in mind is that rescue really do
what is best for the breed. I would go with what they tell you.
It also does depend on if the bitches are spayed or not. Also
what ages the bitches are. Or how dominant your girl is or the
new one.
Sometimes older dogs will accept younger ones. But not always.
Younger bitches do play hard together and can be stroppy.
I know rescue have lots of dogs and bitches needing homes, so
they would only place with you the right dog.
