Topic Other Boards / Foo / Ikea Catalogue - What dog is that?
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 09.03.04 15:56 UTC
Today we had a 24 page Ikea "brochure" through the door.  On P84 is a section titled 'Don't let the tail wag the dog'.  What sort of puppies are they?  They are very very sweet looking but I don't know what they are.

Needless to say there are a thousand and one things that I now MUST have from Ikea, that I didn't even know I wanted until the brochure came through the door!

I found it online so you can all have a look!  You need page 9 of 12 from the Chefs Specials (look on the left hand menu) of the summer brochure!

They're poorly lit, but I think they could be Hamiltonstovare.
:)

Not a great picture, well they look like some type of hound to me ~  I thought Hamiltonstovare too JG. But I'll go for Grand Bleu de Gascogne.
I'm probably totally wrong though.  :)

Apparently the Hamiltonstovare was formerly known as the Swedish hound!

Snoopy1, I thought Bleu de Gascoigne as well,  But I'm probably wrong too :D

If you right click on the pic and select zoom it lets you see them close up, not that it helps really!!

They look a bit too black to be Hamiltons I think, unless the black fades as they get older?  Must did out a dog book now got me intrigued!

I emailed Ikea earlier and have just had a response.  They tell me they are BEAGLES!  I think NOT.
- By LF [gb] Date 09.03.04 20:47 UTC
Beagles!!!!!!  Blimey!  They'll be Swedish beagles then :D

Hamiltonstovares
- By Vanhalla [us] Date 13.03.04 15:12 UTC
I've been to a couple of shows in Norway, and there are a number of other "stovares" besides the Hamilton.  There were some at the shows I went to (Schillerstovare for example), although to be honest, I only had eyes for the Spitz breeds, so I didn't pay them a great deal of attention.  There are also other hound types like the Dunker and the shortlegged Drever.  These look like Finskstovare or Finnish Hounds to me.  Google them and see what you think.

No wonder I have never seen any of them in Gloucestershire!!

You learn something new every day on here.

Thanks

i really like the hamiltons! they remind me (horsey people may agree) of a ring full of bay horses in a ridinghorse class
