I have to tell someone... I met Victoria, Brooklyn and Romeo at Madrid airport tonight. Victoria signed a Real Madrid cap that I had just bought , she was lovely really down to earth and the boys are cute. Hubby nearly got wrestled to the floor by one of her body guards for trying to take a photo as she was boarding the plane though :D
Sorry had to share that :D

Well I must admit that the Beckhams went up in my estimation when I heard they had bought 80 wheelchairs for disabled children costing £35k!

most celebs give money away so they appear to be giving  £35ks nothing  for them  its like pocket money, for every wagon wheel bought the owner of the company puts 60% to childrens chairty . so a good excuse to go eat a load of chocolate ;) hes the uk's biggest chairty helper :P
- By Carla Date 08.03.04 19:36 UTC
it was 65K wasn't it?
- By MadMarchHare [gb] Date 08.03.04 23:12 UTC
65 is still pocket money for them. still, something is better than nothing. but you do sometimes wonder if they are advised to do these things for good press. its all a massive media frenzy. not all 'celebs' are hounded by paparazzi - some steer well clear of it and manage to keep out of the limelight and still are super mega stars. so i'm always dubious of the ones who complain about paparazzi, as there are many stars who can seem to avoid it reasonably easily.

plus, why victoria keeps saying she's got 'real' boobs, is beyond me. its SO obvious! it would be more graceful of her to just admit it - its not my cup of tea (too many fake boobs in the media), but if she wants to do it, i dotn see whats wrong with that.

Isn't a shame that 2 people who have a pretty solid marriage, are devoted to each other and are trying to do the best for their kids get lambasted at every opportunity!   Yes, Victoria is a tad infuriating at times with her pout etc. but do they take drugs, drink excessively, is he a wife beater etc.?  NO

Ok they bought a Pie puppy (Hee hee) but it would've been the same for whatever breed they bought, someone, somewhere, out there would cash in.  And this thread has gone off on a tangent..again.

- By luvly [gb] Date 09.03.04 14:37 UTC
no it hasent . i have an opinion just like all of you do , i can say that there getting shoved in our faces all the time and its annoying if i like. alot of the public feel the same way as i do , you dont actually know that either of them dont do any of that .except david with drugs of course :D
So chill lilly

It's often not them doing the shoving themselves! They can't be expected to hide away - they have lives, and want to bring their children up normally, not as recluses (think Wacko here). If you don't want to read about them, don't buy the papers that push them at you!
:)
- By luvly [gb] Date 09.03.04 15:14 UTC
its not just a case of stop buying the papers is it thou.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 09.03.04 15:19 UTC
Pretty much so. I don't buy those papers and hardly know the Beckhams exist. The first thing I knew about their buying a sharpei was when I read it on Champdogs.
:)

I don't buy any newspapers, but even turning on the TV, there are often things on about celebrities - like the Oscars - how boring :) I couldn't care less what dress so-and-so was nearly wearing and did she take her husband with her to the ceremony etc. Yes - some people do try to keep their lives private, but so many really want the publicity - for example Catherine Zeta Jones and hubby. Now I'd rather watch really interesting people like that chap on the TV last night that had the brain tumour. Did anyone else see that - what a man !!! I bet Beckham wouldn't have his guts !!

they have been on the tv all week , dez and mel this morning late shows you name it . yes i agree daisy nothing more boring then that ,they all seem to stand there like muppets , and you end up thinking why are you watching this. ok watch there movies ... but really there are more interesting things then watching the oscars :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 09.03.04 16:03 UTC
Obviously I watch the 'wrong' sort of TV! I've never seen them on Question Time yet! ;)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 09.03.04 16:06 UTC
Now - you get the 'other' type of celebrity on Question Time - the politician ;)

I must agree with you. I just can't see why people are obsessed with 'celebrities' :(  My family and friends are far more interesting :)

Daisy I have just watched the programme you mentioned that I videod from last night.  I blubbed the whole way through!  What an amazing surgeon, I was so touched when he was telling the story about the girl with the red hair.  I'm also glad it worked out for not only the lovely couple, but the twin boy too.  Incredible stuff to watch and very humbling too.  I agree that "normal" people can be equally as fascinating as celebs.

My son is a Beckham fan (but he is only 10), and as a role model goes I don't find him too bad, not so keen on Vicky tho!  He's a healthy living sportsman with a fashion conscious streak and although I don't like his taste in clothes all the time, it's great to be able to go into M&S and find stuff my youngest will wear.

- By Hearn [gb] Date 10.03.04 07:50 UTC
Sarah,
I wish David was there too.... I bet if he was though I wouldn't have got Victoria to sign my cap and there would have been alot more security for hubby to wrestle with :D :D

Kelly
P.S didn't want a debate on celebrities :D I was just pleased that I got a signed Real Madrid Cap.
- By Rozzer [gb] Date 10.03.04 22:32 UTC
Hi Kelly, I would have been well chuffed with a signed real madrid cap..You go girl :D..I'm not a celeb freak but the Beckhams are as big as they get and I think David is just amazing - Not just for his incredible good looks mind you - I remember when he got sent off in the 1998 world cup and when he got spat at and taunted - he got through it all and took his country to the 2002 world cup and kept a cool head against Argentina, and they're loving him now aren't they!!  Mmmmmmm Beckham :D!!  Fair play to Mrs B - she's usually got a face like a pirates flag - its nice to know she had time for you and was polite :)
