For some reason my tool bar has changed and I have lost the options where you can click on the icons such as the houese for 'home' and history, media etc. Any ideas what to do to put right please. thanks in anticipation

Click on -View -toolbars and tick 'standard buttons' that should bring them back

Thanks. Looked at that but the The standard button is already on. Next to the 'back' button are 2 chevrons. If I click on that the icons appear vertically for me to select but the way they used to be meant you could see them all the time.

I've just had a fiddle with my toolbar (which was scary as I didn't know what I was doing ) but I think I've sussed what might help. Click on VIEW then TOOLBARS  If the LOCK THE TOOLBARS is checked then uncheck it. Next to where the back button is, is there a little vertical line? When you put your curser over that, the curser should change to a horizontal line with an arrow on each end. You can drag that line around to move it. You may have to fiddle around with each bar till you get them where you want them. Mine has three lines that look like this...

I File Edit View etc. 
I <- Back -> Forward  X etc.
I Address

When you get it to look right check the LOCK THE TOOLBARS so they stay put.
