Hello all
I just wanted to know, is it possible to get Blue Harlequin Great Danes? If so are they rare and can they be shown?
A friend of mine is looking ror a Dane breeder to buy a puppy, and one has told her she has a pregnant Blue Harlequin bitch. My friend is not sure whether such a colour exists, and nor am I.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Blues are normal and can be shown, as far as I know they are not rare but I don't know how the genes in the breed work and if a blue mated to a blue produce blue puppies, would think it would depend on what in the the background of both parents. Blue by the way often looks grey but can be very dark.

There are blue harlequins but be very careful as the blue markings must have no black markings in the blue as this makes them merles or harlequin mismarks & it is not an acceptable colour in the show ring

I actually like the merles as they can be very attractive, just not acceptable in the show ring at this time
