I've got my driving test tomorrow at 11.41am, please all of you keep your fingers crossed for me!! If I pass we'll be going to buy an Audi A3 at the weekend, got all of the insurance quotes etc through and its not too bad - I so hope that I pass and will be gutted if I don't but I also know its not the end of the world and I can just put in for it again - most of my friends passed 2nd time round!!
Anyway - fingers crossed!!!! :-)

Well, I failed my test yesterday but it was only on a silly mistake down to nerves!! Before I even left the car park of the test centre I was asked to reverse into a parking space and that is normally my weakest manouver. I was concentrating so hard in getting straight in between the lines that I forgot to look back and ended up reversing up the curb behind me!!! Still, at least I was straight!!
Apart from that I only got 12 minor points and he said that I was a good driver but needed to take more care with my observations.
I think that if he'd have asked me to reverse into the space at the END of my test I'd have been fine but I was still full of nerves and hadn't settled in when we did it.
As you all say - 2nd time round I'm sure makes better drivers!! I'll just have to let that Audi A3 wait a little bit longer!!
Thanks for all of your support though!! :-)

Oh - Hard luck. It's an awful thing to have to go through again but I don't think many people pass first time. I passed mine on the second go but it's much more difficult nowdays.
Better luck next time.

Bad luck. :( Mark it up to experience, and at least you'll know more about what to expect next time. Have you got another date set yet?

Better luck next time. Im one of those horrible first timers. My step dad was a driving instructor which was a good and bad thing. As for the A3 gorgeous car I used to work for Audi and used to take A3ss S3 (my altime favourite car) TTs, well just about any audi I could get my mits on.
Got to wait until payday before I can afford to put in for my next date!! I don't know who was more disappointed me or the OH, I think he was looking forward to being chauffered about!!
I failed first time doing exactly the same thing - I was gutted, only got 3 minors apart from that!
Sure you will be fine next time around, at least you know what to expect, I'd try and get it booked ASAP, that way you won't get too nervous and be put off from doing it again.
I still can't reverse into a parking space nearly 4 years later :)

I think if I took my test again I would fail miserably. Im so impatient I have to be there 20 minutes before I left. Nightmare

So sorry you didn't pass :( Hope you make it next time. At least you know what to concentrate on. I don't know HOW I managed to pass first time - my nerves were terrible and having to do it all again would have been my biggest nightmare :( Good Luck for the next time :) You may be lucky enough to get a cancellation soon.

All the best drivers take more than one attempt Charanda, so book your resit and get going. You can do it. Think of all the lovely long walks you can go to with the car once you passed. :)

Good luck for next time I sat 5 times kept failing on reverse
Jean :-)
How often do you all have to take a driver's test? I live in the US and if you pass it the first time, you're good to go for the rest of your driving life, unless you have a lot of crashes and accidents, of course. I think I would rather have more tests because here, a 16 can legally drive a car and can drive until they are 90 years old if they want. What if they developed bad habits and such and put other people's lives in danger? Scary place, this is.

Same as you sibeluver, once passed it's vaild for life! Which is really scary as we too have the old fogey's on the road doing manovures you never thought possible!
Bad luck with the driving test but it gives you the experience and it won't be so bad next time :D
Thanks everyone!! I've sorted out a sub on my wages from work so that I can re-book today for my test. If it hadn't been for Crufts and all the dosh I spent there I could have afforded it!!
I think since I've passed I have discovered that most people didn't pass first time round - feel a bit better for knowing that I'm not a complete failure!!!
I'll let you all know when my next test date is!!
Hayley..x

good girl I didnt tell anyone when I went the fifth time and I passed never drove for years now though
Jean

Over here you can't start driving a car until you're 17. Once you pass your test the licence lasts until you're 70 (I think), after which time it needs renewing every three years with a doctor's certificate to say you are still fit to drive.
Of course your licence can be taken away for various serious misdemeanours.
