Hello,
Can anyone help, I have a (white) golden retriever and he seems to be producing a lot of saliva lately that is redish in colour and is staining one side of his bottom mouth.
Is there anything I can use to get rid of it? I am using pads that are supposed to remove eye stains which say saliva stains aswell.
Is it a bad thing to have slight saliva markings when showing? you can't see them when he is standing as it is underneath the top lip?
Help appreciated,
thanks

Is this the same dog you mention on the health board who is ill? if so red saliva would be an indication that he should see the vet since he is also sleepy and not eating. Dogs who are unwell should not be shown until they are in good health and if its another dog you need to make sure whatever is wrong isn't contagious as this could be passed to others at a show.

Don'tworry I am not showing my dog at the moment. I wouldn't even dream of entering my dog into a show if something was wrong and could effect others. His next show is not for a couple of months so I hope he will be all better be then.

i think to be honest the redish saliva may be from some new treats we gave him recently which could be a cause of his strange behaviour :-)
