When we were there yesterday there was a Staffy bitch left in her cage for hours .
Now all other owners around me were taking their dogs out for a walk , to the toilet , for a cuddle etc and then going back in their cages for a rest etc but this little girly had no owner visit her for hours. She had a tiny lid from the top of a flask for water  that had long since become empty, no cover to cover her cage and NO tray or blanket to rest on to cover the bare wires of her cage . Although a few people around made comments no one actually did anything - until the People next to us reported it to the steward .
The people came back ranting, took her to the loo , gave her another "cup" of water and no blanket to lie on still and the man said " there , shes had f*****g water and been out the cage so if the steward comes back tell him to f*** off" and off they went again .

When they had finished ranting and gone off yet again , the man next to us said "Typical scousers" !! EXCUSE ME!!! They were bloody Brummies not scousers!!!!!!!

Poor little mite!  I would be terrified to leave my dog at all on the benches incase it got stolen!  This poor soul was obviously just a "winning machine" to these people and not a much loved pet.

I agree i just couldn't leave mine incase it got stolen!
Makes you wonder what the dogs home life is like if it doesn't win at shows? :(

The dog did have a padlock on the cage but to not even bother with how she was throughout the day is just crap to me :(

The reason I finished with cat showing (years ago) was that the cat in the bench behind mine was poisoned and almost died, the owner had only left it long enough to go to the toilet    It wasn't an isolated incident either and put me off completely.  I'd never leave a dog alone at a show, it would worry me too much.  And to leave the poor thing lying on the cage wires....words fail me

I'd make a formal complaint to the KC not only for leaving the dog but using that kind of language when someone shows concern, and of course the racist comment ;)

Do they take these things seriously though or would I be wasting my time ?
I have the name of the dog from the catalogue

I'm not entirely sure how they would take it but there is only one way to find out! I presume you are involved with the staffy breed yourself as they usally will not take complaints from people outside of the breed.

Hi Lel Cant believe people could leave there dogs like that someone was with our lizzie most of the day. We packed up and went over to hall 5 at 6.30 to watch the group judging after it had finished we asked a very nice guard if we could nip through hall 1 with our dogs as we were parked in the west carpark. While we were walking through another guard shouted and asked if we had come for the dog that had been left on his trolly in his cage in hall one owner nowhere to be seen.couldnt see what breed it was but is was 8 15 by this time and hall 1 was cleared at 6 30 so everyone could start packing up i was disgusted at that. Miloos as for the staffs being in such small cages you cant get bigger ones on our benches. last year my mate took her bigger cage and couldnt put the dog in it on the bench and ended up buying a smaller cage for her to go in. All the best gwen

Lel,

I know this is a very old thread, but was this ever reported to the KC by anyone and do you know if any action was taken against the owner?
