They seem to be typical spitz, good temperament, stubborn, hair all over the floor. ;) ;) ;)

Yeah, they do look lovely dogs :)
According to my breed book they are shy and timid which are accepted behavioural traits and it is a breed that can tend to be a little snappy,it tends to select one member of the family as pack leader and is reluctant to respond to any other people. That wasn't a very good write up,makes you wonder just how true it is?Sandra.

Only met 2 but they were not a bit like that more like Sammies.
If that description was from the Bruce Fogle book I have found no end of nonsense in that book, have always admired the man but think he must have collected together other peoples thought and opinions as one person could not possible have knowledge of that number of dogs.

According to the "Mini Atlas of Dog Breeds" they are "Very people- and affection-oriented, a flawless companion. He is an easily trained animal that is docile and peace-loving. Owners know not to approach discipline boldly - the Eurasier responds best to a soft reprimand. A heart so meek can be broken by a brazen hand."
Being a cynic, I am always mistrustful of any one-sided opinion. Where are the negatives? All breeds have their bad points too!
Isn't it amazing the different write ups they get!!What people must be prepared to do is go visit a few before deciding and talk to as many people as possible,Sandra.

Some of those books you can buy in Borders / Waterstones etc strike me as being very irresponsible. More like an advertising campaign for dogs in general rather than an objective description of the breed traits/problems. I know nothing about this particular breed, however.

Books also fail to mention that even breeds which have certain characteristics can have differences too. I mean they arent all going to behave exactly like the breed description (although if bred to hunt they most likely will want to).
the same happens with programs on tv, i was watching a program on the 'history of the horse' and how it helped us in our development as humans too. They made ridiculous claims about where certain breeds had descended from and i did wonder who they had been talking to for advice on breeds of horses.
whats so silly is that a program like that is teaching people incorrect truths about animals. gawd knows how many other programs are incorrect. grrr!

Lots of different opinions on Eurasiers then! The two I know are very even tempered but they do love their mum! Have a look at the Darchen website on CD, Caroline has Tibetan Mastiff's so you may have to get to it through the working group search. Best of luck.

i met the 2 at crufts. --they where very shy, the owner explained there was 2 types. -one more scopey , the other more square and chunky, the one i met going to the loo had its tail down and reminded me of a belgian shephard in build and outline, but a fawnish colous with dark trims around the ears/

I have it right that you were going to see the litter of Tibetan Mastiff's at Shirleys, have you picked your pup, what colour is it, Caroline has just brought another eurasier in has it come out of kennels yet.

Hi
Nice to see our beloved Eurasier has got you all talking.
Jackie you are quite right the Bruce Fogle description is alot of nonsense!! I know I'm biased but they are a wonderful dog to live with, I was on the Discover Dogs stand Fri, Sat & Sun was it Thurs you saw them Dizzy?
Their Character is reserved with strangers but mine aren't(obviously not read the book)
Caroline was at D Dogs stand on Sun with her 2 Eurasiers.

Hi
No mad that wasn't one of mine.
Thanks Jenna I hope we we're of help to you, Are you interested in the breed?
Michelle

Yes your help was extremley helpful thank you. Im interested in the Breed but not at the moment as i have a 10 month old sibie, and we are planning on another as i want to work them. I also would like to spend more time researching the breed first, i have looked at the booklet you had given me at crufts, are they any books on the breed yet in the UK?, i know you said there was only a hand full of dogs in the country.

Hi Jenna
No there aren't any books on them here at the moment but you can get one in German that is available with an English translation from one of the German Eurasier Clubs (EKW) It's called "Eurasiers Today"

hello
it was Tinu'viel of Albion de Niou Tchouang that was shown on the last day of Crufts (Sunday program).
I am glad you liked her she was imported from France and is working in Agility at the moment.
Tinu'viel of Albion de Niou Tchouang and Undo'miel Evenstar Sentiers de Cernunnon were both on GMTV live the first day of Crufts, channel 4 news on Feb 24th and in the daily mail, the independent, the Herold ,dog world ,ourdogs and Dog today as well as making the papers in the USA ,Sweden and Norway! they were also on the KC web site and News round web site.
People just seem to like them!
the Eurasier is a lovely dog and i would not be without my 2 their breeders are wonderful and kept them both for me until they were 11 months old so i could bring them the UK on pet passport.
As it is advised not to put them in quarantine they do not cope well with kenneling and i could never put a pet under that sort of stress and restriction!
p.s also there was a document about the Eurasier on Agilitynet
