has anyone used a treadmil for their dogs?  i am thinking of getting one to use over the summer now the racing season is coming to an end, but as they are so expensive i wanted to ask people who have used them if they are a good way to increase fitness, stamina and condition.  it gets so hot over the summer that it is difficult to get the dogs out, unless i go in the middle of the night which is not really the safest of things to do these days,
thanks,
kelly

yes, i use a slatmill (i am not a fan of carpet mills as they are too hard to work imo).you can also get an electric mill and place a box around it to convert it for dogs.a dog still needs to be walked an emptied before he runs the mill and remember not all dogs will run it so you are best finding a friend with one and trying the dog a few times first, although i would imagine dogs pulling sleds etc would not be phased by a mill.i would not run a dog on it in severe heat though unless you place a big fan next to the mill to keep the dog cool.not sure where you are but not many making good slatmills in the uk.the electric mills for dogs are good but expensive, you are better going to ebay and buying a second hand  treadmill for humans and converting it, its not a big job.
