Monty is now 10 months old (OMG! where has it all gone!)
My only concern about the mad bouncy one is that he hasnt "dropped" yet. Is this ok in a Beardie? I don't want to get him castrated unless i have to.

Very delicate topic :D Have "they" ever been there? If he's lying on his back relaxed can you feel anything? No great expert but IMO I would have expected to see some sign by now. Cava my Beardie boy had his in place when I got him at 9 weks although they came and went a bit and were never that big they were there all the time by 6 months and still are ;) Have you mentioned it to your vet or probably more usefully Monty's breeder?

I have been advised by my vet to have Dougal done, as as seven months he still only has one testicle, and the risks of cancer at a later date are huge. Do you think I should wait till he is older the vet wants him in in about a month, and says it wont hinder his development at all.

Obi's have been there seen we got him, and they are still there and growing well ;) @ 5 months old

I have seen them on and off so i know they are there. Its usually when he is on his back, like you say. I have had a feel (much to the confusion of my boyfriend!) and i can feel them but they just dont seem to want to drop.

That sounds quite hopeful to me :)

We ran on the most gorgeous boxer boy from our last litter he had one testicle but the other could be felt just outside the scrotum, this morning we got up and he was being sick obviously under the weather and uncomfortable when I touched his stomach, we rushed him to the vets who thought It was something he'd swallowed I asked if he could have twisted his testicle as we could no longer feel it and the vet said it was very unlikely, well you've guessed it he had twisted it and if we hadn't got him there he would have died within hours, the vet said it was dark blue and bleeding.

The upshot is unless you really desperately need to wait for them to drop I'd advise have him castrated, I know they don't twist very often but there is a risk and with the risk of cancer later I wouldn't hesitate. Luckily Diesel is fine and will make a full recovery but I hate to think what would have happened if I had been less experienced or in a hurry this morning and not noticed.
