Hi

I was wondering whether anyone has any suggestions as my boyfriend appears to be allergic to most dogs whether there were any breeds this may not happen with so far have had suggestions such as the eurasier ?

Your partner would be best to be tested to see what it is he is allergic to, it may be saliva or dead skin or hair, hair is very unusual. If he needs a non-shedding breed there are at least 12 breeds he could consider. If he is OK with the Eurasier then he may be fine not only with other spitz or if it comes to that almost any breed. Get him to have a sensitivity test.

Hi, the following breeds are all reputed to be relatively non-allergenic (and a lot easier to obtain than the Eurasier!). Is your boyfriend allergic to the hair, dander or saliva?

SOFT COATED WHEATEN TERRIER
BEDLINGTON TERRIER
POODLE
FOX TERRIER (WIRE)
YORKSHIRE TERRIER
PORTUGUESE WATER DOG
BICHON FRISE
MALTESE
AFGHAN HOUND
KERRY BLUE TERRIER
TIBETAN TERRIER
SCHNAUZERS
SPANISH WATER DOGS

I wouldn't have thought that breed a particular non alergy candidate as it is a thick coated Spitz type dog and probably sheds more than m y own dogs.

did have a lady come to me who had alergy problems with dogs, but was fine with Elkhounds and the two Border Terriers I was dog sitting at the time, and she stayed all day, and nearly 7 years later is still fine with her dog.  She is alergic to dander and it is the shortcoated breeds she has trouble with.

Best way is to arange to visit breeders of your prefered breeds and see if you get a negative reaction.  Obviously explain about it first so that you can visit for a good few hours.
