Do vets destroy healthy, unwanted puppies and do homing centres accept unvaccinated litters?  You can probably guess the underlying scenario as it's always the same.  I despair sometimes.

You sound like you have something to get off your chest!

I have been offered a litter of six via someone at work as a last resort before they are apparently destroyed.  They are unvaccinated and the breeders have stated that whoever takes them will be responsible for the costs.  I am prepared to accept them and send them to a homing centre if they insist on destroying them but before I heap this on my unsuspecting husband, wondered if we would then be responsible for the vaccinations.  They are Lab/Pointer crosses and I'm sceptical about re-homing then in London so my next question if we do have to accept them would be where's the best type of centre.

Thank you Lucy.  My email address is cstevens@touch-stone.co.uk  but I am still wondering, will vets still destroy dogs even if they are healthy?

pointer/lab what a gorgeous cross!

Good luck x

p.s I wouldnt think a vet would destroy a healthy animal, unless there was no hope of it ever finding a home etc.

Is that ever sad :( Can't believe some people...I know my vet will not pts healthy young animals. Wish you the best and hope all works out for the little ones.

If you are to rehome them to a rescue centre I think that the Canine defence league are the best as they will never put an dog to sleep that has nothing wrong with them however long they have to keep them

Thank you for your offers of help, particularly LJS.  Both LJS and I have heard from the owners who have said that they are not going to destroy the dogs and that they were using 'shock tactics' to try and get them homes.  So, after all of this, the dogs are not going to be destroyed, if they can't find homes the owners are going to send them to a re-homing centre themselves.  Bit of a waste of time really but at least the puppies will be ok.  Thanks again Ljs, and for everyone else's concern.
