We just took arrival of our adorable new Leonberger bitch puppy today and she is a dream. But she doesnt like how our other dog woofs at everything (guarding the house from terrifying pheasants and passing cars/bycicles/horses). We have just got used to him woofing at things, but it really upsets the pup (who in less than an hour i had sitting when i asked her to!!) and i'm not sure what to do as obviously we want her to be as happy as possible. apart from that he likes her and she is amazingly relaxed considering she has been here now for only 2hrs or so!
Is there much we can do about the barking?

shape the absence of the behaviour by click and treating when it is quiet, and ignore the barking and teach your dog to bark on command and to be quiet to command.

Thing is though, we do ignore it anyway! shouting to him to be quiet never works (as he probably just sees that as us joining in the barking!). He also normally does it when hes in another part of the house. I'm really going to have to have a go at this clicker training - i'm getting culture clash in the post tomorrow along with a BARF book.
