Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / First Season after Litter

My bitch was due her season at the beginning of February, as her past 3 seasons have been regular every 6 months.  She had her first litter in October, so I'm not sure whether this would make her late for her next season.  She is swollen at the back and looks ready for her season, but she's been like that for 6 weeks.  Is it possible for her to have a season without any bleeding?  I want to get her dressed so I need to know she has had a season and when to judge when to have her op.

Hi

It is quite normal for bitches to delay coming into season after a litter, it is nature's way of ensuring the bitch is physically ready to have another litter (should she be in the wild!) My bitch was due in season last August, and she came into season in December.

Also, my bitch looked like she was "coming" into season for a couple of months before she actually did, behaviour changed and she was slightly swolen etc. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.
