My little boy went to the vet yesterday as on Sunday, he was coughing like dry hacking followed by retching not many times but enough to convince me that it was KC.  I gave him benylin for kids on Sunday and he is now on antibiotics.  He is a little toughy and very fit so I am not too worried at this stage.  I didn't take him to obedience classes at the weekend but went alone (it was awful not going with him!) only to find what I think is the culprit there in the middle of the class hacking her guts up! Why oh why do people think it's ok to let their dogs go to somewhere like that knowing that they have KC?  It really annoyed me, for the sake of one or two lessons I would much rather think about the health of my boy and other dogs possibly catching it.  I would not like to think that my dog brought an entire class down with it but this lady was there as bold as brass!  needless to say I had a word with the trainor who promptly told the class the situation.  I just hope my little boy gets better soon.  How long does it take to clear up?

You should keep your dog away from others for 21 days as per KC regulations.

I will, but it just really irritated me to think that the lady had brought hers there and carried on when I had been sensible enough to keep mine at home.  She is obviously either in denial about her dog or thinks that a hacking cough like that is normal!

I have no idea why people insist on bringing infectious/contagious dogs/horses and children to heavily populated events and in some cases compete with them!  How selfish, not only towards their own companions but to those of others who may be immuno compromised.  There will always be another show/competition/race etc for your animals when they are well; this sadly may not be the case for those who have succumbed to an avoidable virus etc :(

i just like to know how many dogs that have kc or the systoms of  kc that still go to crufts this week,what a great breeding ground that place be and they will breaking kc rules too.

after lost a litter with in oct 2002 i will not trust anyone with their dog with a cough or a sneeze,

last night at a match my husband was talking to a commtiee member about a person who bought their dog to training last week know as kc, so the likely hood the whole club will get,

and guess what i hope to breed from wispa when she due in ant time but i may but it on hold if kc is doing the rounds again i just cannot go through what i did with that litter again.

At least there are a few good people who have the sense to keep their dogs away.  It's inconsiderate I think for people who know that their dogs have a contegious infection to let them still mix happily with other dogs.  How would they like to sit in a small room next to loads of people with the flu who were sneezing all over the place.  I don't think they would like it at all!

Unfortunately some people couldnt care less about other peoples dogs as long as there own dog is still able to take part in a show :rolleyes:

We took our 6 month old to her first breed Champ show a couple of weeks ago no rosette but a lovely dose of KC which she has given to the others, I'm on my way to the vets in an hour with one of the oldies who is really poorly with it. I have a good idea who the culprit was I wonder how many she passed it on to and if I send her my vets bill do you think she'll have second thoughts? probably not!
Well that's us out of the ring for a few weeks so she has one less in minor puppy to beat. Perhaps she knew what she was doing after all.

oh no poor you.  I hope your little one gets better real soon.  My dog is a little lethargic today.  Not much, but not himself.  Is this a symptom too?

There's alot of it about at the Boxer shows....
I know of a few come down with it after the local limit show...
Which thankfully I wasn't at.
It is about and I've heard plenty of suspect coughs at all breed open shows.
Thankfully mine are out of action due to them being inseason, can't come out again
until 21st March.
So hopefully we will avoid the nasty KC virus that's about.
