Sonny, our german shephard is 11 months old. Since about September, he's had this BAD skin infection and no matter what we do, it's getting worse. he's had special shampoo, cream, antibiotics daily for months and today he got a shot of an immune system stimulator. the infection is mainly on his underside; chin to rectum. his skin is purple and wrinkly and SO very dry and he's losing fur where the infection is. and its very itchy, he scratches constantly :-((( And he smells really bad. worse than a regular dog. He and his sister are all but joined at the hip and she is just fine. so thankfully it doesn't spread. The vet doesn't know what it is or how to fix it. :-| I posted on another animal message board and got a lot of suggestions as to what it is. I was told it could be an allergy stemming from the carpet in the house, a reaction to flea saliva, or even a reaction to meat. One reply said that her pit bulls and jack russels were allergic to meat. if this is Sonny's case, and we cut meat out of his diet (which he's been getting EVERY day) will he still be able to develop as well?
Has anyone seen this or know anything else we can do? Thanks :-)

Hi guest,

There are lots of things that could cause an allergy like this.  Meat can do it, but there are other things too.

If you'd like to e-mail me safftash.gsd@btopenworld.com
I'll try and help in any way I can.

Lisa
