Could someone please advise me on the going rate for a cavalier puppy. We paid £350 last year and are looking for another but are getting quotes as high as £650. We have no intention of breeding or showing her. Please help!

My sense is that around the £500 mark is reasonable, and that even £650 would be be much over the odds.  Even if you do not intend to breed or show her, it is still important to make sure that she comes from parents with good heart scores and, hence, a reputable breeder.  They are lovely dogs, but not always the healthiest, so it pays to do some research when it comes to the pup's pedigree.  Hope you find the right pup for you.

£350 is very cheap for a healthy Cavalier puppy from full health checked parents. Whether you are showing or not the price at 8 weeks should be the same around £500. An older pippy run so that the mouth & other bits are right will be more as the breeder will have had to have the vaccinations etc done & spent time socializing etc
