Topic Dog Boards / Health / phantom pregnancy and protein
- By ali-t [gb] Date 29.02.04 16:15 UTC
Hi, I have done a search about phantoms and a common bit of advice on the board is to limit protein if a phantom is suspected.  Can anyone explain to me why this is.  My 10 month old staff finished her season approx 3 weeks ago and hasn't been keeping very well since this.  She has had very loose poos, been sick a few times and has a nasal infection.  She has been on a variety of antibiotics and the vet said I should be giving her chicken and rice and other bland food until the runny poo clears up.  She wasn't digesting the rice so is on chicken mixed with burns (venison flavour) food but I am a bit concerned that giving her chicken may exaccerbate (sp?) the potential for a phantom or make the symptoms worse if she is in the early stages of one.  This was her first season so I have nothing to compare it to.  any advice would be gratefully received.  thanks.
