I would guess Jafrak Phillipe Olivier (sp?) G. Schnauzer. Looks stunning to me, with fantastic movement, but then what do I know, maybe G. Schnauzer people will say different!

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK so I won't, I have no idea but am thinking along the lines of a forign dog again that comes out of the blue!!!!

Right then, I think.... it'll be the Saluki, can't remember its name but its doing a lot of winning & its a beautiful dog... (bet its never caught a rabbit or a hare tho')....
Think the Staffie will win the Terrier group....

I think the Giant Schnauzer may win. It's certainly done very well this year.

I think the Saluki may win, he is beautiful. But of course i would like a beagle to win.
By sarahl
Date 27.02.04 14:41 UTC
That would make a change - but a beagle's never won Crufts. If you look back over the year's, you find the same breeds of dogs winning time and time again!

Well I don't think I'd like to see a Border Terrier win....
which it won't of course...
Geoff :)
I'd want a beautiful Boxer to win..............:D
However I wouldn't like to be on the end of the phone's when everyone wants
one of 'Those dogs that won Crufts' as often happens when the Crufts
BIS winner is shown on TV adverts/Blue Peter etc...
So perhaps I'd rather not want my breed to win!!
As it's bad enough for our breed rescues as it is.
I'd like a breed that hasn't won before to win , we have a little bet in our house when they show the final line up.

As long as it's a gundog I don't mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But saying that I know of somebody on this board who has been asked by the Beeb to make themselves known to them as they want to follow their dog & it's class .........so I'd like this person to stand a good chance of BIS!!!!! :) ;)

Must be the best looking male on the show circuit!!!
Sorry Molly, have to disagree......:-D
The best looking guy on the show circuit (although he wasn't around much in 2003), has to be the guy who owns the Giant Schnauzer Ch.Zamoranos Picasso.... the gorgeous, very Spanish Mr. Alvarez...........
Sigh.......... back to dreaming........ :-D

Crufts is fantastic but I just hope, from a selfish point of view, that no breed I own wins! Is that narrow minded or what!?

Call me cynical if you like, but has anyone else wondered why the Peke who won BIS at Westminster is advertised on the front of Dog World?
Hmmm... wonder if they're going to try and win it again....
I love the Saluki, and he is on top form at the moment.
But my prediction is the Old English Sheepdog, Ch Zottel's You don't Fool Me.
Look out for me on the telly - that's if it's shown- I'll be handling an Italian Greyhound in the Breeders stakes finals on Friday.
Oh and of course you'll see me in the Toy group when Slack Alice wins BOB in IGs! Yeah right....

Just in the interest of accuracy he won the group, not BIS. If I remember correctly there are quite a few dogs from the USA entered this year, along with a whole lot of other overseas entrants. In my breed there is an add for a dog from Spain, who I presume will be over again for Crufts this year.

Gwen

If i'm right the newf one BIS ,as much as they are my breed and would love them to be the best at crufts, i have to say in this day and age of money making -newfs are expensive and the Puppy farmers & irresponsible breeders would have a field day.......................... :( :(

Definately the Tibetan Terrier, I will give mark your regards when I go down after Crufts, Maybe print this thread out and take it with me, it will make his day even if he do's not get best in show

Hi Britney I am hoping to meet up with Ken and Co., hope to meet you there.
Chris
PS will have my big yellow Champdogs badge. :D :D

Although half of me would love to see my breed take BIS, last time they did they became the latest 'must-have' for fickle oiks, and the puppy farmers rubbed their hands in glee. :( We still have problems resulting from that time, so I would hate to see it happen again. :(

With you there JG, does the breed no good in the long run. After one of my breed won the group the increase in interest was noticable, heaven help us should one win :(

My husband has just said that he would like the Newfoundland to win, but in a way he thinks that it will be better if it do' s not, You are proud that your breed wins but then I think that is when the big problems start for the breed, at the moment there seems a lot of people looking for Huskie's thanks to the film snow dogs, will be interesting to see if there is an increase in the searching thread after crufts, We are going down to Ken's after Crufts, I alway keep clear of people when they are getting hyped up for Showing at championship and Cruft when they have a chance of a big win
Strange how a Staffie has never won Crufts but is the 5th most popular dog in Britain Guess pedigree and crufts dogs need a more marketable image breed? Think the winner comes form the hounds this year. Either a Saluki or as an outside bet a Rigdeback. Saying that there is a Doberman who has been doing really well lately but I can't remmeber its name. May sneak in for RBIS!
By archer

I don't think the BIS judge considers the 'image' of the dog when he/she choses the winner...can't see its got anything to do with chosing a more marketable breed at all ..Sorry have to disagree!!!
Archer

That Saluki for me - gorgeous creature. As long as it's not an elkhound...
We will have to agree to disagree Archer as I have rarely if ever seen a SBT used to promote any dog food or treats. The SBT is consistently one of the highest entered dogs in the Terrier Group at any show yet not many go on to win the group yet alone best in show. I am a dog lover and wish those showing next weekend the best of luck. Certain breeds are destined for top honours and others are not and sadly thats the way it is.
