i bought a puppy from that man, he was in the news for having 50 puppies in cages in the back of his car. i was shocked when I saw the news and recognised him. do you think I can get my money back as my puppy had lice and fleas when I first got her, she cost me £300. should i contact the rspca? I know where he lives, do you think I could get something done about this or would I be wasting my time?

Think you would need to have made a complaint at the time. You can try but I would not hold your breath. The RSPCA may wish to use your evidence but they would not be interested in getting you compensation.

It is advisable to contact the Council Environmental Health department for the area that the puppy was sold.  The reason for this is that the Council EH department are responsible for issuing the Licence (dog breeders/pet shop/boarding).  The more complaints that the Council have regarding an indivual that they are responsible for licensing, the better chance there will be that a licence may not be issued for the following year, that is if enough complaints are received.

It is also advisable to contact Trading Standards for the same area (as you have been sold a faulty goods).  T/S can take action against persistant traders that flaunt the sale of Goods Act by repeatedly selling faulty goods. See http://mysite.freeserve.com/puppy_alert/index.htm for details of local Trading Standards and other related information regarding the selling of sick puppies by breeders/retailers.

The RSPCA will not be very interested but I should still write a letter to the RSPCA  HQ, as the more letters of complaints they receive the more reason it will give them to apply to the Court for a warrant to enter the premises if there is  suspicion of cruelty involved.

i dont think the rspca will follow it up as your pup only had lice and fleas, where as others had bad medical problems :( so they will follow them up. they wont give you compensation
