Hi, my 3 yr old border collie x's agility trainer has asked her to compete in 2 competitions on the 25th April and the 23rd May. Before I can enter her I need to get her on the active register and she needs a Kennel club name. She is tan and white, can be grumpy if she doesn't get her way (tends to grunt at me!), other than that she's an angel. Her pet name is Holly. Can anyone help please? I'm not very good at thinking of names.

Thanks

Hi, firstly once youve filled out the KC forms you can enter with your 1st choice name with the letters N.A.F after in brackets which stands for name applied for.
youll need to get 4 names to choose from on the form .more than two words no more than 14 letters long(might be 21 1etters cant remeber)
aglity names are usually quite funny
heres a few ideas to help, does your house or road have a nice name or area? eg my friends agility dogs are called Exmoor express & exmoors valentine
did you get her at a special time? see E.moors valentine above, & another friends ob dog is called christmas eve.
what are her parents called? eg my flynns dad was called Jaff (dunnslaynne all gold) so flynn is Jaffson black magic.
look in a thesaurus to find words to describe her personality or colour. my nellie is called Clanistan Hullabaloo because shes causes a hullabaloo where ever she goes!
any help??

thank you! i knew it had a 4 in it(hence 14) then that seemed not enough!!!

you could also use words with holly in
eg "hollywood........"
actually thats the only word i can think of with holly in, anyone think of any others?

My street name isn't a proper word so that wont work and I didn't get her at a proper time - just in the summer so I had a couple of months to bring her up.  Her parent's names were Storm and Syrup. Using words with Holly in is a good idea but, like you, I can't think of any either! Her trainer suggested Holly Half A Brain Cell because sometimes she can be in her own little world and seem a bit dopey! What do you think? Do you have to put down four names? and on the form it says 24 characters, so does that mean just letters or spaces aswell? Thanks

You have to be careful you don't use a word that is already someones Affix.

common words arent usually accepted as affixs are they?
- By Moonmaiden Date 26.02.04 16:32 UTC
Try just making up words from her name & say your name as well

I just used my affix & my dogs call names for my rescue on the working register but the affix had to go at the end

If I like a name that may be common I join them, ie:   Firenice,   Firestorm   or split it  ie:  Pande Monium,  Miss De Meena
or a couple of straight forward ones  Rolled With Gold, Rays Of Rising Sun
