I'm a masseuse/beauty therapist and have started training in Nails. I'm currently qualified in Gel Nails and applying the nail extensions. I'm currently charging £20 for tips and gel. I know this is cheap but don't mind as I'm getting the experience. I'm due to start the acrylic and fibreglass in a couple of weeks.
The help I need is how much do you pay for set of nails, how much do they charge if one needs replacing, how much per nail art and anyone who's had gel, acrylic and fibreglass what in your opinion is the best system? I know different parts of the country will vary in price, I'm from up North and I offer a mobile service so therfore no overheads.
The more replies the better. Thanks.

Nails - what are they ???

Seriously though I dont have mine done since having Gus but I must admit I think they look lovely.

Think I paid £35 for acrylic ones the last time I had them done.

Good luck by the way :D

I am eager to have lovely nails and am very tempted to go 'false'!  I am slightly put off by the cost (£38) at our local salon for acrylic and they say £18 every 2-3 weeks for maintenance.

I don't know anyone who has them to ask their advice (until now, CD to rescue AGAIN!).  I have been put off by programmes like Watchdog, etc where people don't know what they are doing.   I have heard that a nail bar in Bristol charges £25 + £10.

I suppose the other reluctance I have is that it's gardening time in a few weeks and I can't imagine digging with them!  How do they withstand everyday wear?

Hi, I am in the South (Essex) and my friend had hers done (acrylic I think) for £40 and £4 for each replacement nail.  She took hers off after about 3 days though as they were driving her mad!

As long as you start off with them slightly longer than your own you should be fine. Before you get them done ask if they have been on a proper dipolma course or just a two day course. Also remember that even the best tips will weaken your own nails and when you take them off yours will need lots of TLC.

Hello im a beautythereapist aromatherapist nail tech blah blah and for all treatments it varies in each city , here youd be looking at £35 for gel nails acrylic and £40 for fibreglass ,£5 per tip, £20-£25 infills  ,,,nail art £2.50+ depends how detailed or if airbrush was used . but in london be prepared to pay mini £50
Ive used thousands of products i hate acrylic as not only the smell is nasty but over time it is toxic! and alot of thearpists suffer from headaches.
I use cal gel is a organic gel that dosent harm the nail bed at all provided there not bashed about too much .
not only is gel flexi but its strong and you can put 30 colours on that will stay put for 30 days ;) although french white tips are hard to create with gel as they do tend to overspill the edge but you could try using white tips with clear gel on top .
Need anyhelp with your course pm me , I went to college 3 and a half years and can help out with all your beauty questions , or health << im sure ull be happy i said that i can rember doing my endocrine exam :D fortunatly I have a thing for the body and how it works , so i passed with flying colours :D
I have a great website for nail products ill see if i can find it , its called nail order but im not sure what the website address is :)

To all the other questions about nails is ...
everyday things normaly you cant ..you do have to change the way you do things like type and open cans push buttons put your tights on without laddering, digging, washing up. you have to wear rubber gloves when gardening or putting your hands in water for washing up ect.

You cant just use any normal nail varnish remover , use non acetone nail polish remover or you will melt you nails , if your wearing gel nails then you have to apply a uv filter clear nail polish or your nails will go yellow then brown .

And these things said on watchdog yes they are horrible :( and it does happen but not often there are so many qualified beauty therapists out there the last job i got there were 65 girls who tried out for my job . so theres no need to use unqualified therapists . only cheap labour which is likely to be salons with girls who havent got a passport .. or are on a working passport...
be aware of the salons that use drills watch to see how they do someone else's first if they use the drill on the nakid nail then dont bother going in ! the nail is sensitive and care should be taken with the natural nail so harsh drills is a no no.unless used on the plastic tip part only!
I only work for myself now when someone asks for a special day , im too busy with running another buisness but ya never know i may return to a salon, i miss doing my non surgical facelifts :) as i had so may loyal clients
