I am looking to buy 2 pups now that my boyfriend and I have our own home and we wish to ask for information that we will have to know as owners.ie anything important. We want to buy from a reputable breeder as we have both considered buying westies and dont take the decision lightly. What Price should we expect to pay? What should we look out for when choosing healthy pups?

Are you first time dog owners? What size dog would suit your situation and home? Is there someone at home for most of the day? Do you realise that the purchase price is only the start, dogs, large ones in particular, can cost a lot to keep happy and fit. There are a lot more things to consider, I don't want to be a wet blanket, I would not be with out my dogs and I'm sure when you have done your homework you will buy a puppy and get lots of pleasure from it. Don't buy two at once, one first and when you think you can cope with a second say 12months or so later have another.
Hi Guest,
I would echo Jackie's answer in as much that would not recommend buying two at once. Having two puppies is not, somehow 2 x 1 it is more like 10 x 1 !!
Whereas one puppy will, for instance, pull a cushion onto the floor, throw it around, then chew it and then go to sleep two puppies will play tug of war with all your cushions (and probably sofa and curtains as well)
Get one, train it and learn a bit about them and then when it is at least 18 months old think about whether you want another one.
If you want two to keep each other company because you are both out at work all day then reconsider - just think what could happen in your absence in 8 or 9 hours!
Westies are not my breed and therefore I don't know much about them but take a look at the Westie breeders on this site, speak to a few of them and get a feel for what most of them say. Once you find a breeder you feel comfortable with and who is willing to chat and give advice then visit - even if they don't have puppies at the moment it is better to wait than buy from the first person who has them.
