I have a 7 month old with kennel cough (mild at the moment) does that mean her brother will get it as they have been drinking from the same bowl etc. I have had varying opinions some say it will go through them like wildfire others that not all dogs get it some have natural immunity - confusing?
There is no clear cut answer, it is highly contagious, but it is possible your other dog won't get it. He could carry it though and not show the symptoms, so keep them both away from other dogs for around three weeks.
One of my dogs got kennel cough a couple of years ago after being in the kennels and passed it on to my other dog who hadn't been in the kennels. It's awful, sounds really bad. they both ended up on medication, antibiotics I think.
I think kennel cough is airborne, so drinking from the same bowl won't make much difference. It's a bit like human colds - some will get it & some won't.
