Topic Dog Boards / General / Glazby's Birthday
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 10:59 UTC
It was Glazby's 2nd birthday yesterday and to celebrate he had a very special dinner - grilled lemon sole with oven crunchies and sweetcorn, what a gormet pup!!

He also got two new squeaky toys both of which "died" after approximately 20 minutes!!

I also spent the day turning the dumping ground of a spare room into a bedroom, which Glazby now assumes is his!!  Woke up this morning to find him sprawled out on it quite happily!!
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 24.02.04 12:42 UTC
and passing the sweetcorn straight through no doubt :D
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 24.02.04 12:47 UTC
Glazby eats better than i do.  Mind you its pizza and Simpsons night for me and Bradley. Oh and eatenders and holby city. No we might make it fish and chips.  Is bradley ok on this food?
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 13:17 UTC
Glazby loves fish n chips (and is partial to a battered sausage too!!).  He's also a lover of steak and mushroom pie!!

Yes, the sweetcorn passes straight through but he enjoys eating it - rather than munching it down he actually takes his time nibbling each little sweetcorn with his baby front teeth!!

Healthy boy today though had an apple with his mum at lunchtime - I ended up all slobbery but he enjoyed it and is now flat out on the sofa snoring until I get home again!!

He's not overweight though - we took him to the vets for a checkup the other week and were told that we had a fine specimen of a boxer and the vet said that he wished that he saw more like him - I'm such a proud mum!!!
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 24.02.04 13:29 UTC
To be fair, he wont put on weigh if it goes straight through, IMO he would be better eating food that suited a dogs digestion, but he is your dog so I guess it is up to you.
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 13:35 UTC
Jackie, he has these things as a treat, ocassionally and no we don't go out and buy him his own fish n chips - if I have any left over then he has them and as I'm on the Goddess Diet Programme at the moment his treats are few and far between (as are mine)!!

He does have a normal balanced doggy diet too and as for sweetcorn, I think that passes straight through most of us!!  :-)

Bradley's off to the vet tommorow for his kennel cough booster as he goes into kennels next week friday as Im off to crufts on saturday and I don't want him to be left alone all day.  His girlfriend Milly is going aswell.
Bradley gets hias own pizza buy one get one free.  He loves it, he also goes nuts for garlic bread but I have to put a T Towel in his collar because he gets it all down his chest,  then curls up on my lap like a cat waiting for Simpsons.  In the ad break he goes and has a quick drink then back to cuddling.

Bradley and Milly Sitting in a Tree - KISSING!!!

Bless him!!

We took Glaz to Pets At Home on Sunday to choose his squeaky birthday presents, he had great fun wandering around and I think he took a shine to a little lady Staffy in the bedding section, could have been an embarrassing situation!!
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 24.02.04 14:59 UTC
Its funny when they see each other his tail goes so fast you can't see it and he gives a grin that only a boxer can give.  Then sits down and plays hard to get. Then Milly will stroll over and sit next to him and they will lean against each other for all of 30 seconds then they both go completely mental. No sooner has it started its over with them both curled up in the corner with Milly's head tested against bradley's thigh. OOH puppy love. I have a feeling he would give up his Tuesday night pizza for her. I think I feel jealous
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 15:05 UTC
I don't think Glaz has quite worked out yet how to woo the ladies - he's still a bit to boisterous and scares them away!!  He means well and the sad look on his face as they run away from him is heartbreaking!!
- By Boxacrazy [gb] Date 24.02.04 15:10 UTC
Ooooh You'll have to text me as I'll be there on the saturday..
You can see my Abby's dad at the show :D

- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 15:23 UTC
Just a quick question - do you need tickets to go to Crufts or can you just turn up?  I didn't realise it was this weekend and have no plans for Saturday and was thinking of going along!!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 24.02.04 15:40 UTC
It's next weekend, isn't it?

But no, just turn up and pay at the door.

- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 15:50 UTC
D'oh my driving test is on 9th March and so I guess I'll have to have a driving lesson instead.  :-(

Got myself all exited as well...
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 24.02.04 16:07 UTC
Oh poo, that would of been a great day out.
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 16:16 UTC
I'm seriously thinking of re-arranging Saturday's lesson to the Friday afterwork and then will be able to go!!  Have to sweet-talk OH when I get home!!

Been on the Crufts website and its only £12 each plus trainfare (and its just after payday)!!  May well be seeing you there yet!!
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 24.02.04 16:24 UTC
Excelent,  I know there are a few of us gracing crufts with our presents so it should be quite interesting.
- By Charanda [de] Date 24.02.04 16:28 UTC
I think we should all make little CD badges with our usernames on so that we can recognise each other!!
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 24.02.04 16:40 UTC
Im not sure Im willing to show the world who I am yet but its a good idea ok no I reckon we should go for it who am I to hide behind a terminal
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 25.02.04 10:14 UTC
A freind of mine came round last night and I nodded off.  Anyway I had a really strange dream about Bradley and Glazby.  I woke up shouting where Glazby Charanda is going to kill me.  My freind made a very quick exit after that. How embarassing.
- By Charanda [de] Date 25.02.04 10:36 UTC
lmfao - poor Emma, having nightmares about me already!!  Did you have a good evening with Mr B and the Simpsons?  We watched it last night, the one with Mr Burn's son - a classic!!

Looking forward to Crufts now - just about to go and try and book my tickets online (payday today - yaay)!!
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 25.02.04 10:59 UTC
We had a really good night. Especially when Arsnel beat celta Vigo(Luis's hometown football team).  After about 9 last night Bradley fell asleep and snored so loudly I first heard it upstair and couldnt work out for ages where it was coming from it was echoing all around the house.  Come down stairs found he'd drunk my tea and was sprawled upside down on the sofa with his cuddly toy. Ahh bless.
- By Charanda [de] Date 25.02.04 11:09 UTC
I'm an aresnal supporter (for the last 21 years) and so was also pretty chuffed with the score last night, though I did feel really sorry for their goalie - can't believe he carried on playing!!

lol @ Bradley - he and Glazby have much in common, the sleeping upside down thing AND snoring loud enough to wake the house up!!  Mat says that he takes after his mum (Me??!!) in that respect but I keep telling him - I don't snore I just heavy breathe!!  :-)

Does Bradley tend to let rip really stinky ones when he's upside down?  We reckon that Glaz lays like that when he's full of wind as its easier to let them out - we all end up sitting in front of the tele holding our noses!!

Tickets all booked for Crufts - really looking forward to it!!
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 25.02.04 11:28 UTC
Bradley usually reverses up looking behind him to get the position usually if Im laying down on the sofa then he will stretch makeing shaw his aim his correct them boom. Dear god it strips your nazel hair out. If I make any bodily noise at all tumy rumbling etc. he looks at me as if Ive commited a serious crime,  usually he exits the room for a while in shear disgust.
- By Charanda [de] Date 25.02.04 13:47 UTC
Glazby's is the same!!  Even Mat admitted last night that he knows what he's put us through all this time with his own gaseous admissions, but Glaz beats him hands down!!  lol
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 25.02.04 14:21 UTC
Does Glazby sit on you?  My mum gets really upset because she seems to think he is trying to dominate.
- By Charanda [de] Date 25.02.04 14:38 UTC
Glazby likes to sit on both of us, he also likes to climb up onto the sofa and will straddle us in the most dodgy looking position with his front legs on the back of the sofa dangling his wotsits infront of our faces.  He actually seems to prefer to stand like that rather than sit down on us!!

I don't think its a dominance thing, I think he just forgets that he's heavy and has sharp claws!! as if you happen to look up at his face he leans down and gives you a thorough licking - and as I wear glasses they tend to get licked off of my face!!

If we sit on the edge of the sofa he will climb up and sneak behind us and then likes to give you a hug by putting a leg on each shoudler and then rests his head on top of yours!!

One thing we have had to watch is that he's not too keen on me and Mat cuddling up on the sofa, he'll climb over us and I've had a paw in the throat on a couple of occassions!!

Yes look forward to meeting you and seeing a photo of Mr B!
Yes it really is heavenly for shopping and seeing so many dogs in the one place.
However not so heavenly when you are showing, with the dogs to look after etc etc
and trying to get to the ring and avoid being trampled in between :D
This year I'm not showing there but am looking forward to lots of retail therapy..
no moaning BF to placate (he's working) and can go home when I want to..
instead of having to wait until 5-6pm to avoid the rush of people & dogs trying to get out of the
car parks :D
I have been asked to handle a friends Boxer but that's if she doesn't come into season.
So I have the best of both worlds :D
Don't forget though to dress sensibly and wear comfy footware (not slippers :D)
Also a good idea to take your own packed lunch as food is expensive as are the drinks.
There won't be anywhere much to sit down either, hence the need for comfy footware :D
- By Charanda [de] Date 25.02.04 08:11 UTC
Yep, I asked the bf last nite and he's up for going too!! :D  we're going to get the train up there and and back (I think its Birmingham International).

Haven't been to Crufts since I was 11 years old when my dad had a yorkie in show there!!

Shame Glazby can't come with us but I'm sure that we'll find him some treats to take home with us!!

Packed lunches sound like a good idea, I think the people who run refreshments at events like these are the ones who make the most money!!

Hope to see you there!!
